Bulk Search is a feature allowing for quick, comprehensive searches across a whole list of entities or search terms. C4ADS provides some fixed bulk search query lists including the global sanctions lists issued by the U.S., U.K., and U.N., which are auto-updated with new search results as new datasets are loaded into Seamless Horizons. We also provide the tools for users to create their own lists and run them regularly to monitor for hits against new data being imported to Seamless Horizons. A detailed demonstration with screenshots is included below.

Walkthrough/Demo

1. Navigate to the Bulk Search page either from the home page of the application or using the navigation bar on the left.

2. Click on Create to create a Query Group.

3. This is the Bulk Search page, make sure to put you title and description in here. The Bulk Search can be made up of several Query Groups. After you create your first Query Groups they will all be listed here where you can view, edit, run, delete, duplicate, and share them.

6. This will navigate to a page where you can edit the Query Group. Be sure to name your group! Click on the editor to begin entering terms. If you prefer you can also upload a csv file with a list of terms for quick creation of a group.

7. Type in the terms that you want to search as part of your investigation. To include Boolean AND operators click the plus sign to the right of the cell to add more values to the query.

Step 7 screenshot

8. To add more search terms to the list, click the plus sign below the existing terms to create additional rows.

Step 8 screenshot

9. To filter the query down to specific datasets, file types, entity types, languages, countries, or regions you can click the Dataset Filter button to specify values. However, for this example I want to search across all of the data in the system.

10. Once you are happy with your Query Group, click on the Save button. This will navigate you back to the Bulk Search page where you will see your new Query Group.

Step 10 screenshot

11. To run the Query Group, click on the Run Search button to the right of the group name. This will send a notification when the search has been started and when it has completed.

Step 11 screenshot

12. To view results of the search, click the arrow button to dropdown the list of terms in the Query Group. From here we can see that my queries returned 50 hits in the database. To view these results click the View All button.

Step 12 screenshot

13. To view details on each result click the arrow button on the right side of each search term. This will pop into a view similar to the search results page of the application.

Step 13 screenshot
